View Full Version : Into what catergory this applic would go into?
javierdl 11-18-2005, 06:15 PM I just came across this program called Vegas Movie Studio, can anyone enlighten me and tell me what this program would be comparable to? Would it be comparable to Adobe Premier? Or AfterEffects? Or what?
Thanks in advance guys,

Vegas Movie Studio would be like premiere elements... there's Vegas, and then Vegas Movie Studio which is the trimmed down version. Vegas is an nle (like premiere) with very limited compositing functionality (after effects) It's pretty darn easy to use too

Thanks SoLiTuDe :)
So, should I infer, from the way you put it, that AE has a limited compositing functionality?
What program/s would you recommend for compositing?

you can d/l the demo version of vegas movie studio -- if you've ever used Acid (for loop-based music creation) vegas is just like it, but with video. Give it a try and see if you like it... but what I guess I should be asking is what are you planning on using it for, and what software do you already have?

Oh, ok! I feel better now ;) LOL
I worked sometime ago doing some 2D animation and video sfx for tv, nothing too high end. But nevertheless I always thought AE was very good at doing compositing. I did plenty of rotoscopy with Ultimate too.
So ever since I did that job I always turned to AE for compositing, and never had the curiousity to check on little programs like VMS. I have been so disconnected from this type of work that had to ask.
Thanks a bunch SoLiTuDe :)

Yeah -- stick to AE... or if you want to be bad try out combustion or digitial fusion or something. For nle vegas is actually rather fast though and easy to get some stuff going for dissolves and fades in the way the interface works with dragging stuff into the timeline and overlapping them automatically creates fades... kinda cool... anywho i'm sure it's possible in other apps i've just been too busy to figure out how =)
Anywho no prob man
