Hi,
I'm working on this project. Actually, just started...
I need to make a window pane on an old, neglected house. It hasn't been cleaned in years, and has accumulated a good amount of dust and grime.
At times, maybe some neighborhood kids have come along and wiped away some of it to see inside.
I've been working on the texture for this for a little while. Normally, I'd model the whole thing first, but since I don't have much experience in making good, realistic transparency maps, I wanted to get right on that...to see if I could do it, or at least get a reasonable start.
The image is the pane with no frame. The "floor" and the wall in the back are just there to provide something to see it against for my test renders.
There is a slight bump, but at this point I'm more concerned with getting the trans right.
I have ideas about how I can go about it, but I'm wondering if anyone has any tips they could share in the making of a good "old filthy glass" trans map.
Thanks. :)
-Mike
