I'm desperate, guys, and I need your help. I've seen you give some amazing advice in the past and I'm hoping you can pull through for me with this one.

I'm a student in college and I have to get this all done reeeeeeeealy soon here and I've tried EVERYTHING I can think of to make it work, but it's just not getting any better then you see in the pics below. For one of my animations I've got a fully rigged and modeled character with fur attatched, but I've got bare or thin spots on the hands and feet and on the muzzle, as well as a weird "gap" between the skin and fur along the sillouette (sp?) of the character itself.

Also, and this is the biggest thing I need help on, I've got this "seam" going along one side of my char's tail that I just can't get rid of!

I've tried everything I can think of and have consulted my teachers (unfortunately, I now know more about fur then they do...) and the Maya help section, the website, and the internet for tutorials that may help me. Sofar none have worked. Lastly is the lighting issue, where I can't seem to get any shadows showing up anywhere.

I've got two spotlights with low intensity in blue and yellow colors, and a bunch of low intensity ambient lights for overall light. All of the lights are up twords the celing but they aren't giving off shadows, even when I've tried it with just one or two.

Please, guys, I'm DESPERATE, I only have 11 days to finish this, render it out, burn it to a CD, and cross my fingers that I'll graduate this December 16th. PLEASE help me!
-V.
