for the people like me who cant afford a quadro, this is for you:

My personal geforce 4 ti 4200 as a quadro 4 700XGL (http://www1.freewebs.com/meloncully/artwork.htm)

and heres how to do it:

also, head over to www.guru3d.com and get the latest riva tuner.

enjoy!!

also, a small side note: i used the latest nvidia driver to get this to work.

why does it seem like the GeForce3 doesnt exist?????? I have a geforce 3........yet in any nvidia ads or on their site all i see is 2 and 4 now this 2 and 4........why is 3 being so ignored???? I though 3 was the ultra huge innovation in 3d technology......when it first came out (all of abtou 6 months ago) it was all anyone was talking about, now it seems to have been left on the side of the road like a puppy that bit the baby!!!!

You would think it would be 3 and 4 that would be talked about, not 2 and 4

course the reason i think for this is that 3 and 4 are basically the same thing!!!!

they dont want anyone to realize that you can get the last gen of 3 for half the price of the first gen 4's and the performance increase (ive benchmarked it) is less then 10% increase!!!

I wanna turn mine into a quadro!!!! I wanna be able to use sculpt surfaces in maya too!!!!!

are you using a mac or does your pc have a personality complex??

excuse my dumass, hehe, but what exactly does that do? I read the report, but I'm not too bright about that technical stuff... if I'm in maya does that mean I can turn on shadows or something?

well, for those interested. i just successfully converted my ti 4600 and it works sweet ! ! :bounce:

i did a SpecViewPerf (3dmax01) before and after conversion, here's the result with 'maya-settings' on :

before:
3dsmax-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 2.573

after:
3dsmax-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 3.232

i don't know the exact meaning of all those figures, but i can definitely say, that wireframed vieportperformance runs much smoother now ! i hope it also inherited stablility of the Quadros.

thanks a lot, meloncully !

This works on a GeForce 3 as well, I just used SoftQuadro 4, and the Nvidia reference drivers 40.72 and converted a GeForce 3 to Quadro DCC. I don't have any bench marking software, but I gained roughly 20% average in all modes on the Maya testcenter benchmark, except lit shaded, which stayed about the same.

EDIT: Also, Houdini's UI no longer has sluggish updates.

I know this is gonna sound kinda lame to ask (and possible ignorant and stupid!) but i still have to ask ya know?

I have a Visiontek Geforce2 Ti. I would like to know if "spoofing" the video card to believe it's something else (as in the Geforce 4 to Quadro4 above)?????

If it's possible how and what do i do/what can i make it? Thanks...
