CGTalk - Cracks and breaks?

hi everyone,
got a bit of a problem with my uni group project, one of the scenes is a guy smashing the word 'NEWS' with a hammer, the word cracks up and bits fall off it and wondering if anyone has any tips or tutorials on the best way of doing this? much appreciated!

Cut and slice the word NEWS so it already is "fractured" (to help you with this, you can try looking on scriptspot, i do believe there's a script on there that will break it from you) then put all the pieces in a reactor fracture group, it should get you there.

ok thanks for that tip... sadly i know very little about reactor lol, would u be able to give me a guide as what to do or give me a link to a tutorial? cheers

Max comes with a great Reactor fracture tutorial. Just look it up in the tutorial docs.
