View Full Version : animation: moon accent
stephen2002 11-20-2002, 01:17 AM I have finally finished off the moon accent animation. It is rather simple, just you start low on the surface and slowly rise into space. Here is a low- res still:

Here (http://rendermonitor.no-ip.com/moon.shtml) is the page that contains more stills, a QTVR and the animation in a number of file sizes.
The moon was created, animated, and rendered using MojoWorld.
Let me know what you think of it.

Good work on the animation, although I feel the subject is a little simple. it would be much improved if there were falling meteors or a small (space 1999) style base and perhaps a flyby of a rocket desending from orbit :)
It does have great scaling detail in the texture maps/prodecedurals though (assuming you didnt you at 2,000,000 x 2,000,000 texture ;) )
Very nice work, keep it up :)

yes, it is quite simple. It gives you the feeling of the emptieness of space, you know that stuff can't be flying around everywhere all of the time ;) . I agree, if I added more "stuff", it would be more intresting to look at.
The moon itself is done with procedural geometry (basically a big displacement map). All texturing is done procedurally as well.
