View Full Version : Character: evil skull [Vray Render]
Dmitry 11-19-2002, 11:25 PM Hi all.
Here is my latest work. Modeled in maya 4.5 usnig smooth proxy.
Then imported into 3ds max 5.0 and rendered with Vray. Procedural texture maps were applied for the glossines and reflectivity. Also used GI. Please comment.

Maya > Max 5 [v-ray]?
Whoa! Seems tedious... what kind of environment did you use for the reflections? Could you post a non-chrome one possibly? With GREAT glowing red eyes!

A meshsmooth and higher AA setting and it would be perfect! Great work! :applause: :D

Actually, I'm not quite sure Dmitry has any idea we dug up his thread again.

you'r right i didnt have any idea you dug it up...at the time it was posted not many people saw it...
to answer all the questions, this skull is still in stages, its a part of the model...probably lord of the rings like wraith.
Rendering style with a special shader, the AA settings are not really important right now because this isn't an original render.
I didnt render it in maya because well i dont have MR, and my computer is rather slow...celeron 500 with 320 ram. Hehe...
Where Vray is much faster renderer. I did not use an HDRI, just few lights... and actually most of the look was achieved with the shader.
The original render was much darker.
Here it is.

The GI is way too blown out.
There seems to be no definte light source and the table or floor looks almost like there is no table or floor.
Plus the lighting is taking away the attributes of the model.

I agree with wgreenlee1, its too dark.
But the first images, is spectacular, the specularity and class apperance is soo eye pleaseing to me.
keep it up.
Peace
