View Full Version : What's going on with my Imported Object?

i import a object file to my Maya, so many problem for me now

1. got a polygon, very strange edges , not like the polygon i creat in Maya,
nice and Oganized edge, no cross stuff.

2. CAN NOT select or edit UV ? that means i can not select the yellow points and edit them in texture editor !

3. CAN NOT assign any texture to the object, GET the strange result.

what can i do , please help me out !

for the textures you need to go to relationship editors under the window menu. Once your there you need to go to either texture centric or uv centric and make sure your geometry is connected to your texture. That should fix your textures not showing up. For your import problem how are you importing it.

Well, I'm assuming you modelled the object in an external modeling application (wings3d, silo, modo, etc.). It seems like you have to create new UVs or at least re-arrange the ones you already have. Maybe you didn't export the UVs properly from the other program?

What does the UV Texture editor show, when you select the geometry? Can we have a screnshot, please? :)

For the smoothness of the mesh you'll have to set the smoothing angle of the polygon normals (edit polygons/normals/softenHarden). Simply set them to 180 degree (all smooth).
