I couldnt work out how to do it in 1 bit. So I have built it in 2. I was hopeing to make a Boole union of the 2 then smooth it out, as you can see I am getting some strange results (third pic on the right). Is there a way or a plug-in someone can recomend? some type of metaball(esk) weld would be great. I have seen one where the closer the two objects get the more they deform to fit the contor of each other but I'm sure that was fro Maya.
Any help would be great
thanks

Personally off the top of my head, I'd start with a loft using circles, but with a low angle + subdivision, that when when you convert it to an object you don't have more edges than needed. The bottom pertrusion I'd do by hand after turning the loft into an object but before nurbing it. I think it might be one of those things you'd just have to tough out. Though there's probably a better way...
Though I've never used a boole, I'd also consider a metaball over several circle splines with a high threshold to keep the skin close.

http://members.directvinternet.com/amtberg/Horn.jpg I used a sweep to create the first tube. Bulge & Bend deformers to get the shape (with a touch of HN weighting). Then I used EE Pro to create a round hole on the bottom, selected the hole edges and extruded. DT texture.
With AdamT on this one: EdgeExtrude Pro is the fastest approach and keeps the mesh clean.

yep, i created the three cylinders (16 rotations), put them in place and made them one object. then deleated the polygones, where i wanted them to connect and then created new once :)
but as you can see, there are several ways to get the desired result

matty2x4: is that the tbar from the vespa (wasp) your decal boy is gonna kick start?
I know someone asked this recently but would you guys say edge extrude pro is worth getting? only 20 bucks me thinks..but is it better in r8? and can't something like loftedge plugin do same thing. I currently have edge extrude basic and seems ok...any thoughts?

Well thanks for all the help guys. I dont have EE pro (yet).
So in the end I did it the old fashioned way, comibned the 2 objects, deleted pollys and points and created polys in the spaces, moved it all around and fideled with the details while watching charmed on telly:p
flingster: he sure is gonna be on the scoot in my challange, still loads more work to go though
thanks all
