I need to replace a face by a CG model... here is the first integration test... I rotoscoped the actor's head and scaled my blendshapes on his play. For the moment there are no displacement maps. If you want to know more about the project go to my website in the wip section.

Update

I erased the actor's face to have a clean shot to composite the CG model

Interesting

the actor sort of looks like bruce willis

but the CG model doesn't look anything like him

Yes I started to model on a base of the actor's head, but the director want an exageration of his head without eyes... it have to looks more a mutilated guy coming from hell

here's the final validated head

you know, the head kinda doesn't look scary, maybe if his cheek had a cut or a scar, it would do the job

I'm still interested on your project

yes .. we had a short discussion about it... and I will improve the skin to be more scarry by making it more translucent and revealing some veins... maybe it will have some blood in the mouth or stitches in place of the eyes...

Thanks for your interest

I worked on the hair and the skin hilights... Reddish on ear was done in photoshop... There are some artefacts on the noze, wish it will disappear with motion blur in my final animation or I will fix the problem on compositing...

great results for the cutout of the face, however....there's like 1 or two frames when a corner of his head flashes...

Frame 72 to be exact...

So I'm near the final result... need some finetuning ...

http://www.nelsig.ch/cgtalk/StillJasperHead.jpg

as I repositioned the head layer in AfterEffects, a piece of the hat is disappearing (out of the render frame)... I will make the retouch in Photoshop or render again the frames with the problem at a larger resolution...

hair is missing too, but I don't know if I will take the time to add it ! hey I'm alone for 50 vfx shots... and time is short as I do it in my spare time ! And I don't know if it will realy add something to put hair.

any feedback welcome
