i am a former lightwave user with a fancy plugin called tree & leaves generator from pawel olas. (www.polas.net). worth the price of lightwave i'd say. but i am having problems getting the leaves into cinema in a form where i can effectivly texture them. they come accross with uvs intact but i seem to have no luck getting them to render. on the outside chance that anyone here has any experience with this or has any tips? files included.... Hey its a free tree and leaf texture at least.....

it works fine here, but you've set up your texture projection to be spherical for a start, it needs to be set to UVW Mapping in the tag. then the UV's are set up in a tile of 10x10, i've no idea why, presumeably so you can set up a texture with some variation of different leaf types. therefore with your current texture you'll have to set up the tiles in x and y correctly to 10 as you just have a single image that needs to be in each UV (unless you select their uv's and run a MaxUV on them either in BP or using my MaxUV Tools plugin).

than it will render fine.

have you thought about using XFrog or Samirs DPIT plugin directly in cinema though for this sort of thing? (or even Storm Tracer) You'd then keep the procedural nature of the tree alive (i.e. you could modify it however you want and if you decide you want to change it later can simply edit the parameters... or even make things grow that way etc, animating parameters over time, or addingi n wind effects easily).

Im not one to start anything, but the textures you included in that sample file contain textures only accessable to registered users of Trees and Leaves Generator. You shouldnt include them in your files. Just a FYI.

thanks for the help! and the heads up. :-) i suppose since i had registered with my username and password over a year and a half ago, the site had set a cookie and was still allowing me complete access to all that stuff. i did check before i uploaded, but it seems you only get a message preventing download after you try to download without having previously registering. (i tried to download with a browser i don't use that often..) i didn't realize it was for registered users only. sorry. at least it was only one texture. the file has been removed....

thanks per-anders! i had all the other settings you had talked about (the file i posted was just how cinema opend the lightwave file. i thought it might give someone some clues before i started messing around with it) but it was the 10x10 tiling that threw me off. how did you figure that one out?

thanks again. YDM!
