View Full Version : XSI Advanced Help
samurai12 11-16-2005, 02:50 AM I am currently taking a XSI Advanced class and we are making models of objects and I have a bolt that has threads in the middle of it and I do not know how to make them, does anyone know a way I can make them?

Someone else wrote this and I can't remember who - I keep a stash of XSI hints in my gmail account. Anyway, here's the helpful hint I was able to find:
"Create a cylinder with just one subdivision along the length of it.
Pick a poly on opposite sides and extrude them. Then select one of the
edges along the length. Press shift + d, set it to divide along the
edge loops and put a tonne of subdivisions (how many you need will
depend on how many turns you're having and the length etc). Now apply
the twist operator and change the fcurve in it to a linear line. Put
the angle up to something big like 3600.
You've got the hard part done now - just add the head."
