Hello, my name is Alex Crouch. I am a character designer, modeler, rigger, and animator in the New York City area looking for entry level work in the CG industry. This clip is an animation of my latest character, done in Maya with the Maya software renderer. I would appreciate any critiques or comments you may provide, whether it’s about the modeling, texturing, or the animation performance. I will be happy to return the favor and give critiques on request.

Thanks!

First I'd like to say that if you did all the modeling/rigging/animating I am impressed.

And for a quick critique you need more hand movement, what really sets good lip sync apart is the hand gestures and the way well placed hand movements can add accent. Dramatic poses and motions can really liven this scene up. The sound clip has some very dramatic vocals that you can have some serious fun with.

You also need some head movements, I would like to see him looking out like he has an audience. Make his face turn and move and really feel the words he says.

Thats all for a quick once over.

Yeah, I did the whole thing from concept drawings to set design to camera to finished render. I agree with you about hand movements and having him look about as though he's talking to an audience. I'm receiving a good deal of useful critiques about this animation and I'm thinking about reworking it somewhat.

Thanks!
