Does anybody know of any forums that runs game art challenges on a regular basis?

CGChat just started their newest comp, but holy crap the competition is hardcore over there! It's a lot of fun to see so many awesome entries develop though.

Polycount (http://www.planetquake.com/polycount/)often has challenges, and so does GamingArtist (http://www.gamingartist.com/).

I missed out on the last game art challenge due to indentured servitude, but would we be able to set up like an unofficial one here? I would be down for that just as an exercise. Exercise that involves cigarettes and coffee in my case.

If anyone's down, let me know!

Yeah I really don't care about prizes (Although I'd gladly accept one). I just want some practice and sometimes need a push to get me started. My skills aren't greatly developed yet so I can't make anything outrageous but I feel like everything in my realm has been done 1000 times already. If I had an assignment, well that would be different.

well i dont think my skills are even close to being of the calibur to even consider participating in the game art challenges but i would be more than happy to give input on this subject :p

correct me if im wrong but dont we kinda already have a game art challange? someone just picks a topic and people run with it; kinda like the daily sketchbook thing but with....like....months instead of days :p

not a big fan on the prizes thing it just seems kinda mundane

well thats my view on this....granted ive been told by people....too many people now that i think about it, that i tend to reside on a different plane of reality than most people so take it for what you think its worth...

...man i need to get some sleep.....

Redemption-

I have no clue what you aretalking about with being ona different plane of reality, since you have the same ideas we all do  .

And as long as Ive been on cgtalk (cgsociety, or whatever), there have been tons of challenges but not many excercises, done purely for fun. If anyone is down for something like this, I'm in. Afterall, from the newbies in school to the intermediates like me all the way to the pros, we can all use more practice.

TheRedemption, I may be wrong in saying this but I think the game art challenges aren't run on a regular basis at cgtalk.

Thanks for taking the initiative Bazooka. I hope to have something in there.

The game art challenges are run regularily, but they aren't 'official'; that is, they aren't run by CGTalk, just by members.

Hope the MGAC works out, maybe I'll give it a shot.
