Hey everyone, this is my first game model and I could really use a little help with. The goal for this project was to creat a character from Starship Troopers with a poly count between 3000 and 4000 (tris) that can support facial animation. The character with all his accessories stands at 3577 tris as of right now. Now my question is how is my smoothing? Currently I am using 3ds max and really don’t understand the smoothing group layout all that well. I notice there are some dark spots on the model, is there anyway I can get around that without adding geometry? Will the dark spots affect the texture in any way? Will the dark spots be visible on the textures? How is my topology? All Comments and Suggestions are welcome.
P.S. In 3ds max view port there seems to be some kind of default lighting turn on that generates shadows in the view port. You can really notice it on the under arms of the character. Is there anyway to turn that off?
