View Full Version : Softquadro4!!!
Oh, for all us poor GF4 users :), theres the Softquadro4 out now. Gave me a big improvement, especially with the Hardwarerenderbuffer, much faster now.

have fun.

As unwinder has said many times, that just because Windows thinks you have a quadro (in the hardware settings) dosen't mean that you are getting professional Open Gl extensions. I think a screen shot of your viewports would be more accurate to see if it works.

It's all about the drivers. Quadro and GeForce are the same hardware!

what do you mean by screenshots of my viewports?
to check out if the patch works go to rivatuner-->detXP/customize-->openGL Tweaks-->Professional and see if you can Enable the unified back/depth buffer.
Then you did it right.

looks like i did it right!!!!
now, what does all this mean?
http://nvworld.ru/docs/sq4e.html <-- best way to go and read this stuff :). Shortform: Softquadro= better Professionel OGL Performance than GF4 but a little less the the real Quadros.
On the other hand lower gaming Power, but who cares?

TEK, question:
what is hardware overlays? or overlays or whatever they are called.
Oooh, im not so deep in this stuff but i think this is used for the Hardwarerenderbuffer for example which uses a Window to catch the renders direct from your Video-Card.
Clicking on the ? in rivatuner and then on the options gives you a little help too.

ya know, i imported a 200k plus poly model from lw, and i had maya optimizations on, and it was soooo smooth even with 200k polys in view port.
i had virtually no lag. i am gonna have to test some animation with it now.
yay

i quadro Fixed my ge4400 128mb card yesterday, i think it is a little faster, it feels faster.. but i dont have any benching figures to my previous nonQuad setup..
i did a test anyway, a fairly lowpoly character with 10125 Edges= 5109 Faces..
what i did was select and move him around,,
Select and move shaded style:
Division level 0 10125 edges = 60.7 fps
Division level 1 40500 edges = 47.3 fps
Division level 2 162000 edges = 17.7 fps
Division level 3 648000 edges = 4.7 fps
And here´s the wire figures:
Division level 0 10125 edges = 58.8 fps ?
Division level 1 40500 edges = 60.3 fps ?
Division level 2 162000 edges = 55.6 fps
Division level 3 648000 edges = 17 fps
all this was on a Single persp view!
when using all quad view(front, top, side, persp) i got a whole new set of numbers,
Select and move shaded style: quad window
Division level 0 10125 edges = 200fps
Division level 1 40500 edges = 124fps
Division level 2 162000 edges = 34fps
Division level 3 648000 edges = 13fps
And here´s the wire figures: quad qindow
Division level 0 10125 edges = 223fps
Division level 1 40500 edges = 160fps
Division level 2 162000 edges = 67fps
Division level 3 648000 edges = 19 fps
the fps in maya is not trust worthy.....
this is not the most accurate test,, but it is a showing of real usage,,well almost
dont even know if its any good?
cheers
Ok guys letz do a Test - here is the file
http://www.maya-testcenter.de/3D-Test.ma
turn the frames count on and hit ALT+v
(turn off all gui only the viewport)
poste ure result
i have around 100 frames before sq i have 50 (wire)
shademode 36 before 25

ok swag, what hardware are u using?
i run a Dual MP2000+ with 1Gig of Ram and a Leadtek Ge4400,
but i dont get the figures you have?
wire 83
shaded 28.8
texture 19.6
light+texture 6.1
?

AMD1800+/1gigDDR266(fast settings)/msi4200@300/600
Driver 40.72 /vertical sync =off /NV1.x compatible=on/overlay=on
screen=1152x864
sorry i dont know why i have so high result (i love it)
Here my "scores" after sq4,sry dont have scrores without:
Wire: 109
Shaded: 32,6
One Monitor @ 1024*768
Dual-Monitor Setup
Wire: 59,9
Shaded: 23,1
Both monitors @ 1024*768

hehe, graphic cards and setup is wierd,,
The first test i did with default graphicCard clock,,.
and i use 1280x1024 32bitColor.. vsync =on overlay=on maximum on comp,.
i use the 4103 drivers
then i change to 1152x864 32bitColor and sett the G-Card clock to
300/600 vsync=off and overlay=on and OpenGL Mode=max
i got 112 on wire and 30 shaded 30 texture..
but i changed back to my 1280x1024 and lower the G-card clock,,
dont want any stability issues,.
@graphiouz
graphic card is running very stable - the MSI has 3.4 ns and my max is 320/615 (without pixel trash)
sorry for the screen res. 1152x864 is right ... i switched back to
1240x960 too i use the low res. cause everyone can set it up

ok..
if you run a singel processor? it could be the answer because singel proc computers is a tad faster then dual, when dealing with singel threaded apps like maya that is:p
rendering is another story..
