Has anyone found or is anyone using a replacement to the Windows color chooser with Cinema?

I consider the native solution as wannabe at it's best. Would be nice to have semi-innovative tools like the pipette tool in Photoshop (or whatever it's color picker is called in English) to pick color from outside the dialogue box and whatelse to make working faster and less painful.

For example I spent few € to replace the Windows' Open Dialogue box with File-Ex and my life has been Christmas ever since. I expect there are as great little helpers for colors also.

Instead of spending huge efforts to protect privacy of people who cant spell "virus scanner" or "firewall" or "Pestpatrol", I'm hoping for tools that dont feel like :banghead:

Hmm, I should've asked this question few years ago. I've wasted my youth with Windows' in-built tool.
Where can I toggle it on? I tried preferences but didnt notice a such option..

edit --> preferences --> units
color system --> enhanced color table.

This is the way to make it the default.
see attachement 1

you can always click on the little arrow beneath the color. There you can choose which color chooser you want to use.
see attachement 2

Learned this stuff from a 3d fluff training dvd.

Mighty big thank you guys :)
The solution (most of it) was too close for me to even think about it. Another great example of RTFM for basics before trying to build an intergalactic rocket.

It's like for years I thought I was def till one day someone told me to remove the hearing protector. Feeling reliefed yet dumb.

I tried FileEx but it doesn't work on my computer with Cinema. Too bad, looked pretty useful.

Sorry to hear that MJV.
File-ex, using MUDding terms, G E T S M E D I E V A L on the native open dialogue box. Ability to save favorite folders for whole system and for different apps favorites alone reduces clicking alot.
I could go on talking about it's positive sides, but briefly File-Ex users get all the chicks.

Only applications I know that dont work with it are Pinnacle's Edition and MS Office-family, which both use their own open box. But in the File-ex preferences is 'Trained Applications', Training is usually only necessary for dialogs that don't automatically show File-Ex enhancements Maybe that helps?

this is what you get when you edit a gradient or noise, how can this be changed?

This may be a bit off topic but since Hilt was talking so much about File-EX i really got to post this.
I really hate the integration of IE and all the others things that make XP so slow and unsafe so i like to change all the usual things that are essential for normal use.
So the main thing that has the most flaws is the explorer shell/filemanager, it uses quite much of my memory (only 128mb :D) so i canīt keep it on allways. So couple of days ago i found this piece of software, Xplorer (http://zabkat.com/x2lite.htm)ē Lite (http://zabkat.com/x2lite.htm). It's much faster that any other filemanager that i've used. It has a built in previewer and a ftp client. And best of all it FREE (well atleast for home and academic use).

If you click on the small arrow to the left of the Color boxes of the Noise shader,
or to the left of the Gradient, then the C4d Color picker unfolds.

I tried traning Cinema but it wouldn't train. The specific problem I have is the save dialog box opens mostly empty with the main window up in the left hand corner. I tested other applications and they worked but not Cinema. Strange that it works for you. Are you using 9.5?

All these years I have been using C4D and I never even accidently clicked on that arrow, thanks for that it is funny how you can overlook the small things that make all the difference

I'm old-schooler with 9.1. All I can think of is re-installing but dont think that can do much help.
Only problem I've ran into is that I have 2 users on Windows. Mrs.Hilt has her File-ex working like her charm while mine gives an error message of some sort when switching users. Not sure what the message is about as after that File-ex works fine. That's probably "bad karma"-error as I seem to have tendency to face the weirdest of problems with OS.
