Hello! thought I'd join this one, can't miss a good event :) Im gunna do an alien abduction. I have my main characters setup already, all they need is rigging and texturing.

For the composite side, I think the only thing I can think of doing is adding a forest photo outside the kitchen window casue moslty this will take place in a kitchen, and u can see outside the kitchen window. Im gunna head for the "Lights outside" type of deal, so no UFo, more mysterious, just a bright light, and then the visitors come in.

Hope this counts. Im currently modelling the kitchen and all its props atm.

here are my main characters so far.

Yep, looks like a pretty good start! Keep it up. But isnt the contest more about composition and not so much of animated chars?

Ok I had time to write out the script.. Ill post part of it.. ill leave the rest when u see the animation hehe

heres my lil story:

W.I.P | "I Saw The Light" | sc= scene | t= time | sc= Seconds

Sc1- fade in Name t2sc: 1 to 5 - t5sc: "Mishibinijima Studios"

sc2- fade in Title t2sc: 5 to 10 - t5sc : "I saw the Light"
sc3- fade in t1sc: 10 to 20 - t10sc | Beer bottle in hand, Camera pans out passing an ashtray with a lit smoke, passing and empty plate with a fork and a butter knife, reviealing the mans sleeping face in the table.

Sc4- fade in t1sc: 20 to 30 - t10sc | (hand held) camera shot pointing towards the Old tape deck playing old radio music "author - Hank Williams - Praise the Lord I seen the Light. at some point the radio cuts in and out with white noise.

sc5- fade in t1sc: 30 to 35 - t5sc | (hand held) A camera shot on the kitchen counter pointing towards the sink full of dirty dishes, and a dish rack thats empty. The sinks tap water is dripping on dirty dishes, 2 drops of water. In the background there will be a kitchen back door leading outside, a fridge, a Old tape deck playing music, kitchen shelves (where the food goes) and a symbol of a time 2:45AM, "clock". The radio cuts in and out with white noise to nothing for a mili second, "lil intense"

Sc6- fade in t1sc: 35 to 44 t5sc | Camera pans out from looking from the kitchen window panning out so you can see the kitchen counter, in the background there is a forest outside (Composite moment) mabe stars above the treeline.

Sc7- fade in 1sc: 44 to | (hand held) Camera shot of the drunk man sleeping and also u can see the kitchen window (dim lit forest) along with the kitchen sink. At a point in the song phrase "I saw the light" every electrical equipment in the house drops dead, its all dark. Suddenly bright blueish orange light blasts from the top treeline outside the kitchen window, through the forests into the kitchen, illuminates the whole kitchen as if it were daylight. At the same moment, all metal objects in the kitchen loses its gravity and floats above 1 foot upon where there placed.

Wow Eugene, this looks s amazing! Your modeling skills look awesome, and the good planning of what to do (aka 'the script' ;) ) looks very promising too! :) Good to see (another) team to have planned all very properly! :)

As I haven't seen any updates since a while I'm wondering if you're gonna finish the project (for the deadline)? I just hope so, as it all looks really promising! :buttrock:

Good luck!
