very useful for animation, and cheap, go buy it.
not that this post belongs in WIP animation, though... heh

I second that notion on both counts ;) It's a great animation resource, especially if you take the time to read it and not just look at the examples.

A really great book of movement of the animals. too much horses I think. Buy it is a must have for an animator.
Sorry.. hehe.. I read Animals in motion instead of animators (animators = animals.. hehehe sometimes!!! hehe) Well... I also have the other book.
The Animators survival kit is great, but it has not so many movements of animals. Most of them humans but cartoon stile (the best).

An absolute must-have, indespensible animation book. If you read through the whole thing there's some really useful tips in there that go a long way. Put together well too.

Very good book for the mechanics of animation! Definite must have for any animator. If you only have the money for one book, buy The Illusion of Life!

Yeah simply the best book on animation tips and techniques, you can learn so much from this one, and not only in animation but it can deal quite good with character poses in illustration also, i use it for many many thing !
Preston Blair (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1560100842/qid=1132129470/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-2071652-4099914?v=glance&s=books&n=507846) has made a good one also but some stuffs has been improved with time, very useful for construction line though.

I have to second flow3d. Buy it, and the Illusion of Life, they are both absolutely worth the money, even if you don't have any--and read them, too!

Who am I the 10th person to say something positive about that awesome book?!
Nevertheless...you don't even have to have it in your bag and carry it everywhere...once you take the animation techniques and apply them right there and then...not only do you fully grasp and understand the animation but it's nailed right down in your cerebral cortex as if it's second nature to you.
The techniques are so obvious and easy to apply that ... it doesn't matter what software you're using...I've applied it to my hand drawings....my Maya....my Flash....even Photoshop and After Effects.
Damn it get that book b4 it runs away!:wavey:

well guess I'm the 11 person to give this book possitive cirticism. Well for a animator this book is a must among your animation books. Over here at Full Sail they issue them out in one of the early animation courses and they say as an animator you must keep with you at all times.

I totally love this book. Great to learn from, and then it becomes great for reference. It's a full animation course in one book!
