View Full Version : Maybe a dumb question?,... but, Eco....?

Is it possible to use more then one Grey Scale Map in one Layer on an Eco,
or do you just add more Layers, and then just keep adding in more Grey Scale Maps?
Here's the scoop, what I would like to do, is to havemy main Image Map to
controlwhere the basica placement is for the eco that I want to use.
Now!, I want to add another thing, maybe that's a filter or something, I can't think
of what it might be called in the Function Editor at the moment, but I want to add
something like a Spotted Noise Filter to the Image Map to combine them so that
the Noise will add a little bit more randomness to the placement of the Eco,
but of course, still keep the overall Eco in it's Image map boundries.

Make sense?

I'm certain that there must be a way to do this,
but I'm just not quite sure how I connect them or whatever?
How would I do this in the Function Editor, in otherwords?

Oh!, almost forgot!
I also wanted to know if anyone knew of a way to let Eco's work like you can do with
a Material, say snow on the side of a mountain, where you can control if one side of
the mountain has more snow then the other, due to the sun shining more on one
side then the other and the other side is more in the shade all the time,
and thus has more snow on it?
Like that tutorial about how to do that :)

Thanx tons!

P.S I'm doing some test renders on the next Phase, which is, the overall-base-rocks.
looks pretty good, and I haven't done nearly as much work on it as I did for my
last desert scene, as far as eco rock placements and density and size falloff.
This will all sure turn out to be a pretty good tutorial, when I finally
get finished, since it's all nice and neat in "steps" as I go.
Easy to recreate later in a tut, in otherwords :)

Can't offer any answers, md. Just wanna post to help keep this subject near the top of the list. :)

Actually, I think you're further along with Vue than I am right now, so surprised you don't already know the answers. If my schedule stays open this week, we should work together on this stuff. I think I've already experimented with these questions, and they all can work.

I'm just too tired to remember (hope that's all it is).

Yeah, I guess I was tired last night, cuz I already have
figured all of those questions out today, with no troubles at all! LOL
All simple stuff to do, and yes, you can easily add other Noises
or whatevers to your grey scale map in the Function Editor.
You can add Filters to control those subsets too, so you can
basically go into infinity, technically, with your amount of controls in
the Function Editor as well as with the Material Editor and Eco's and such.

All seems so basic and simple, today.... go figure?

Anyway, thanx though, and I'll share later when ever I get the time off,
which probably won't happen until I finish this artwork, as it's all that's on my mind.
Not because I want to hurry and see it, but because I want to move on to other things.
I have more complex scenes I want to try out, and this scene is already getting boring
for me and not that much of a chanllenge for me anymore,
which is making it start to be boring.

Of course, being a perfectionist, sure doesn't help any LOL

...................md :)
BTW, I still am trying to figure out how I can create my
own desert type plants, made from the Vue plants, somehow?
I still need to get the thread started over at the Cornucopia Store Forum.

I know this is off the topic, but this subject has been bugging me. I've been working with poser for while now and just recently got vue 5, well i want to load up a object with facial animation. i animate for example Victoria 3 in poser making her walk around a room smiling and laughing. when it comes to loading it up into vue 5 the animation to walking is there but wheres my expression poses of her smiling and laughting. does anyone have any idea to make this work, i would love to hear feed back.

Thanks,

@ obeanjobean: in the general preferences of P6, uncheck "use external binary morphs", then you should be able to import ok in Vue.
Now about distribution, i think you can do what you want this way:
In the function editor, your distribution output is connected to your bitmap. disconnect it. Load a combiner node, and connect it to the distribution node ( bottom connection slot), and to your bitmap ( upper right connection slot). Load a noise node, and connect it to your combiner node. Now edit the combiner node to your liking.
Haven't tried it myself, so tell me the results.
