Hii..
i want to make a render network setup...do i need to install something other than having 3d max installed on each pc with the same version...
Does 3d max by it self is needed for making a render network??

Everything you need to network render is installed when you install Max. You can set up additional servers on other non-workstation machines by choosing the "compact" install option, which won't require any authorisation but which can't be used as Max stations. All the instructions for setting up the farm and the network are in the help file.

What about using Third party renderers with the compact version on a render farm? Will it work? do you have to fix the Brazil settings on every comp? for example....

When you setup a render farm, just install max networke rendering install, then each network version of each plug you have (even all script/free plugin).

Then, set up your scene.rendering params on your prod pc, and set it to the renderfarm, that's all... Each server will use your scenes params of course.

Do you have to run advanced server win2k? I remember something from the max 3 notes...

For 3rd party plugins you'd be best to check the documentation for each, as the recommended procedure for net rendering can differ from plugin to plugin. Shag Hair, for example, allows you unlimited render nodes on a single license, whereas Brazil doesn't (I think you get two additional render nodes with each single lisense and can purchase addition render nodes at a knock-down price, but don't quote me).

So, as I keep saying: read your documentation, it's all in there.

You can run Net rendering on Win2K Pro or NT, but you'll be limited to how many servers you can run by OS limitations. If your network runs on 2K Server you can include as many machines as you like.
