Ok this is what I do not under stand...step 3 I have all my points around the logo but it says

~Now select 4 points at a time and then click make pollygon...
*how do you select points?

~Step 4 it show the image like stright up and down like if you look at the plane 1/2 the image is on top and the other 1/2 is on the bottom

*When you look at mine its all flat on the plane...

I have been working on this for a few hours to no luck...

Edit...so you make a pollygon you just un click it is that right...I just tryed that...but why is my image flat on the plane?

First up, there are 2 selection modes that you can be in, Poly and Point. Theres a button to toggle between them on the bottom of Modeller, but you can also use the space bar to do so. The only way to select points is to work in point mode.

I dont understand your second question, perhaps you are looking in the wrong view port? If you dont know what a view port is, and the types of views that you can have, perhaps you need to look at the introduction to modeller tutorials found on the same site?

I think I got the point thing down...and for the second question if you download the 450kb file I listed and look at step 3 you will know what I am talking about when I say the image is 1/2 on top of the view plane and the other 1/2 is on the bottom part of the view plane. :bounce:

Edit. I re installed lw demo and it seems to work now so I will try again tomorrow and see what I can do...

also what can the full ver of lightwave do that the demo can not? Can I render my stuff out? heh?

The demo has a point limit in modeler (400 points I think), after which most tools won't work (they pop up a message telling you that the max point limit is reached) - However you'd be surprised what you can model in less then 400 points using subdivision modelling... :)

Layout ('LightWave3D') is limited in that it doesn't allow you to save a scene file, or object files (if you tweak surfaces, etc, you can't resave the object from Layout - However you CAN save the surfaces from the Surface Editor panel and then reload them in modeler and save the object from Modeler instead).

It can however render your animations out to disk, but will have a checkerboard watermark over the rendered footage.

However, other then those limits, its essentially the same as the full license of LightWave.

what does this error mean

only faces with 3 or 4 vertices can be converted to subpatches?

Currently subpatch mode (Lightwaves version of subdivision surfaces) only works with quads and tris, n-gons will appear as holes in your mesh. LW9 will subpatch n-gons though!

That basically means that only triangles and quads can be converted to subpatches. One work around is to select the polygons that have more than 4 points, and press Shift+T, which converts them to triangles.
