View Full Version : Dinosaur Walk Cycle
superkong 11-11-2005, 02:35 PM Hi Everyone,
Just completed a Walk cycle for my dinosaur ( Ceratosaurus ) any feedback would be most appreciated, and tell me if it looks really wrong, I'm hoping it will be more like tweaking, I've modelled it in 3ds max 6 ( I'm still learning ) and I've used character studio.
Cheers

The good news is it doesnt look really wrong at all! ;)
For what theyre worth I have a few minor points...
Id like to see a bit more movement in the head, maybe back and forth a little. Think birds! Maybe you could offset the rotation of the arms slightly, they look a little in unison. The other thing Id do is rotate the feet up a little more before coming down (just a tad) so they dont look so much like he's stubbing his toe into the ground.
Apart from that good work:applause:

Thanks for that Gabroid,
Its nice you've given me constructive tweaks, and from a scientific point of view, you are right they were more related to birds than reptiles.
I'll aim to add those in soon and show the update as well
Cheers

This is pretty good ! I only have a couple of comments. It looks like you are using some kind of jiggle deformer on the legs ?. When the feet hit the ground, the flesh moves - I think there is almost a vibration - It needs to be slower or more subtle, at the moment it looks a bit glitchy. Also, perhaps a little more up & down motion to accentuate the feeling of weight ? I would have to see this to know.
I think your deformation on the hip is excellent - I know how hard deformation on these kind of joints inside the body mass are. The cycle works really well & the upper body animation ties in really well - the overall motion looks 'complete'.
