Is it possible to customize Lightwave Modelers colors? specifically changing what the default colors for splines, points and Polys. and while we are at it can you also change the colors of the default interface? thanks

Only by editing a prefs file at the moment I think. Lightwave 9 (due for release shortly) should be fully configurable.

Yes "9" will allow some of that. User defined colors for points/polys/normals/etc. Not sure about splines.
