hi, guys~

please help me.

I just started learning skinning. :)

question?:

How do you copy vertice weights from one side to the other?

I know how to copy envelope and paste on the other side.

but, what about those vertice weights that I paint...?

I'm using max5.

help~help~help~

well, as far as I can tell, in the weight table (a button on the skin modify panel) u can copy and paste from one vert to another. I dunno if there is an easier way, I am looking, hope to find something,and if I do, I will tell you :applause:

I'm looking for a symetric skinning script for a while...find some old one which desn't work, that's all... A pity I think :-(( Some friends in big studios got such scripts to automatically do the second sid envelop/vertices weights etc etc) in one clic, but they keep it secret grrr

yeah, the vertex weight table wouldnt work, unless u want both bones to move the same leg!! lol:shrug: Anyways, send me the scripts or post them here (groovy_daemon@yahoo.com) and I will see if I can fix them. They might require a special naming of objects. I REALLY need this right now.... grrr:annoyed:

Guys, try this dudes script

Mirror Paste is the script you need, for it to work you need to
select the verts that are to be mirrored, also give it a valid Left to right pre-fix/postfix to work from. Then adjust the threshold value.

It kinda worked for me, it skinned most of my model accross, but did not handle the hand verts at all :(, probably my fault as my model is pretty small, its a lemming built to scale...

I tried this one some weeks ago, and can't manage to mirror at least one vertex :-(

It does work, like I said try selecting some verts and also make sure it can tell you Left/Right bones by a valid label. It certainly is not a fre and forget kinda script, and the documentation is very lackin, still, until discreet get a script out the door its the only publicly available solution, cheers Chuggnut for sharing ;)

p.s. oh yeah, almost forgot, remoember this script DOES NOT work on editpoly, only on editmeshes

ahh, no wonder I couldnt get it to work.. I have edit polys :P I will try it again :shrug:
