Sup all
My first time entering a CG challenge. Got some interesting ideas for my piece. I'm a DJ specialising in turntablism when I'm not on my tablet. So I guess my concepts are coming from a musical background. I try imagine how music has evolved throughout the universe, what music may sound like in other worlds, what evolutionary paths a race took in terms of instrument design and music technology. My specific concentration on Hip Hop and its forms throughout the universe. Alot of times when I'm cutting up samples to an elusive beat, I seem to channel an energy from somewhere, as if I'm not playing the turntable the universe is playing me. Hip Hop seems to envelope many skills besides music creation, it involves art in all forms from dance to writing on the wall. From ancient afican dance cermonies and cave paintings, to B-boys and Graf artists, Hip Hop formed the creation of a new instrument, the turntable, the latest and most advanced in hands on music creation and tone manipulation. Where is this all heading, more importantly where did it all come from. What greater beings have inspired this subliminal knowledge and expression in it truest form, thats what I intend to find out and hopefully show you--
Peace- keep a look out for some concepts on these highly evolved beings tapping into our sublimal and some the instruments they play with>>>

Just a quick concept on my centre character, G-Wiebbs, a DJ semi-god on the planet of hip hop (still to be named), I guess he's the ultimate manifestation of skill, prowess and semi-godliness on the planet, beings from the furthest corners of the universe come to watch this Grand master peform, on a truelly epic scale, kinda how I like to imagine myself if I were one of these god-like figures at the top of these tiers to supremacy. One step from true manifestation as one of the Eight Worshipped Gods who will dictate musical creation and evolution throughout millions of Galaxies in our universe.

Instrument: Zaxsos T3 (pronounced ax-ohs)This instrument, hand built by the high priests of Aactol, A gift to G-Wiebbs for attaining the blessing of Rane, The highest of all Gods. Encasing pure spirit energy of past semi-gods, telepathic file and 1054 bit sample transfer. Magnetron plasma levitation and plasma-optic pick up. The instrument is made of an unknown material, apperenlty a precious alloy only found in the event horizon of some black holes.

First bit of line art, in the negative as I prefer sketching in the negative when I have a dark environment.
Playing as the orb shape as the seating for royalty at Ukrel's 3,000,000 million seater stadium. not sure

Just flipped the image and starting adding a bit more detail. Think its time to start adding colour. - HINT: if you wondering why I flipped the image, it helps to check if you have perspective all in order, you get so used to seeing the one image you wont notice mistakes. so hence...

I like the setting you've developed very much, the crowd and the city outside the 'stadium' translate the sense of space very well. I'm not so sure about the central character at the moment. The pose seems less impressive than it might and the decks and mixer don't quite match their futuristic setting, while I appreciate graf as much as the next *ahem* b-boy, I feel that your choice of clothing for the main character is more impulsive than planned. Perhaps - if you have time, you might design a more futuristic costume and also expound on the equipment the djay is using - this is meant to be spectacular - and although exaggeration isn't always the most subtle of technics(sic) I see no reason why the dj shouldn't have 10 arms and 20 turntables...
Hope this is helpful.. above all: keep it up and don't be afraid to crit yourself harshly if other opinions aren't forthcoming ;-)

Hey thanks for the comments. Wish I had a little more time. I like your idea about the more futuristic clothes, that is a definite must, I will certainly put some effort into that. In terms of changing my centre character I would like to keep him a bipedal human looking character. I will enhance the over all feel and "spectacularness" with some pretty dramatic lighting, but enhancing the futuristic feel of his equipment I will try and do too.

The crowd with G-Wiebbs, gonna start working into him a bit and get the lighting right and start some final colouring. Also need to work on the ships hovering above the stadium and work some serious detail into the BG stands. They look very FG'ed, and there sense of scale is somewhat "little" People are sitting in the stands aswell as on the stands if you know what I'm saying. The sky and city in the BG are easy. And of course... that F#$%KN crowd

just working into the stands a bit, they need to look MASSIVE.
Worked into the cityscape in the BG a bit, started colouring G-Wiebbs a bit, you'll see him in my next update. Apologies for no submissions, no net at home only at work and no private work @ work ! :(
