View Full Version : Mesh disappears when combining meshes

Sometimes, (very, very rarely), when I combine some meshes together in Maya they disappear altogether in the viewports but the transform nodes etc all remain in the outliner. No booleans were used either.

I can export as an obj and bring it back in and it works fine, but this isn't really a great option. I'd prefer to know why it happens and how to fix it in Maya or how to avoid it.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

it might be an issue with history. Have you tried deleting history on the two objects before you combine them?

werd.

Yeah, have tried that unfortunately. Doesn't help though.

I know this is a retarded question... but you dont have the two objects isolated do you - and when you combine the new object isn't isolated... so it looks like they dissapeared...

This is one of my many daily "doh"s!!

i am getting this problem. it has only cropped up in version 7. again i combine objects and they disapear completely leaving only their transform nodes. anyone else having this problem in maya 7?

its a very annoying bug as there is no way to undo it! THE MESH WILL NEVER RETURN!

Naa, they're not isolated.

can you select them and then reasign the material to them? That might work

Naa, that's a different problem which I have experience before of the mesh losing its shader. The problem here is the mesh disappears altogether.

I think I may have recently read somewhere that it is a known bug in Maya that Alias seem reluctant to fix. Typical.
