This is a comissioned piece I started a couple of days ago, a picture of a winged vampire creature. I just figured out how to make custom brushes in PS and I love the new, painterly feeling I can suddenly get, from where before I have worked mostly with smooth brushes. I used to work with aquarelle before I discovered computer painter programs, but they lacked a certain saturation of colors that I wanted. Now I feel its almost like painting with aquarelle on the computer!

Any critique welcome! ^_^

Her leg is lavishing! Wow... Voluptuous ... Her knee is really sexy. This piece is great.

I think if you work out the shadows a bit more it'll be superb, also some parts seem too long because of their apparent shading. like jer troso and her upper leg, because of the turn in the hip and the angle of her ( also rather voluptuous) chest.

edit: gave me some inspiration for my own wip right now :D. thanks!

The comissioner specified HUGE boobs - I must admit Im usually a more modest kind of breast person. These are the biggest I ever made. Anyway, heres another update - added some more of the details in her clothing, started adding shadows on her skirt, and tried to fix the "long body" problem - I hope it looks better now! :)

I really admire you guys who manage to get crisp clear strokes, yet still maintaining flowing colour transitions *sigh* My only comment is that if her left hand is meant to rest on her hip, her upper left arm should be pointing more back- and upwards, rather than down- and outwards as it is now, if you understand what I mean. Now it looks like her upper arm is directed straight downwards while her body is bent forwards, which in reality would result in her hand being somewhere infront of her. I hope that wasn't too clumsily written :/ Other than that: superb!

Ack you are right! Thanks for pointing it out - I knew there was something wacky with the arm, but I couldnt put my finger on it. You nailed it! Ill see if I cant fix that somehow. ;)

*clap* very nice, great anatomy as well as coloring and the use of the elements and principles of design to achieve Unity :D

Thank you everyone! Here is a new update: I tried to fix the arm, I hope it looks more anatomically correct now (I sooo wish I had a photo ref for this, would help immensely!), added a few details, worked out the shadows and started adding life to the wings. I think I have to check out batwings to get these the way I want them, making transparent skin proved more difficult than I thought... o_O

Finished version! I made the wings quite light at first, then realised that it looked odd with the darker background and had to make them a lot darker. The only thing Im not happy with now is the blue pattern around the skirt hem... but since its supposed to be there, I cant really take it away. And Im still wondering if I shouldnt make the banner a bit darker too. It draws the eyes away from the vampire girl a bit too much...
