Climax’s award winning studios are seeking a Junior Story Board and Concept artist to work on Handheld and Next Gen platforms. We are seeking an artist who is visually able to create out of the box and who is able to create stunning characters and breathtaking worlds and excellent storyboards. As a junior concept artist you will be responsible for creating original artwork to guide the art and design team, as well as for use in game design documents and promotional material.



Job requirements:

• Create artwork based on license properties and original game concepts to specifications given by the Lead Artist

• Work closely with the designers to suggest ideas for the games during the concept stage

• Design characters, environments and other elements based around existing level designs

• Provide artwork for storyboards and concept mood boards

• Maintain a consistent art style under direction from the Lead Artist



Skills needed:

• Strong traditional art skills particularly life drawing are essential

• Strong character design skills

• Good all round artist – imaginative and able to adapt to a particular style as required, as well as develop their own ideas

• The ability to work effectively as part of a team by collaborating with other artists and programmers

• Proficiency using 2D art packages like Photoshop, Painter or other 2D packages would be advantageous, although not essential.

• A strong eye for detail and grasp of colour theory

• An enthusiasm and knowledge of video games is essential.



Samples of Artwork are required on application, demonstrating character and environment design in a variety of styles.
