After some testing 3d-palace is pleased to announce that our new service for artists is now open - www.3dshowreel.com (http://www.3dshowreel.com)
3dshowreel is a free hosting system for 3d and 2d artists to host their showreels on with no bandwidth limitations - artists can host a showreel as well as very high resolution images and then link them directly to cgtalk or their forum of choice without irritating popup banners, having to load a new page or any of the other problems found with "free image hosting". This is because we manually check and approve submissions to ensure that we are only hosting work by artists.
At the moment we are in a running test, having recently hosted 4 cgtalk frontpage reels and image collections. During this we are giving hosting at 35 megs for reels and 5 megs for images - may not seem much however we give as much bandwidth as you need thanks to the 3d-palace backbone servers (we have a good few terrabytes of bandwidth available per month)
Please note that we are not a gallery service - we are also not a work in progress hosting service - we are here to host your professional finished works so that you can get maximum exposure on professionally viewed websites. There are no upload forms on 3dshowreel - you request an upload and are given ftp access - after you upload, one of our team of moderators will check over your files to ensure that they follow our basic rules on pornography, piracy and decency, as long as the files pass this then they are moved to their own folder and you will be notified of the direct links as well as having a thread posted with the direct links in the 3dshowreel forums. After that you may use the links as you wish. This is to make sure that the people that need their files hosted, get hosted.
Feel free to add comments, ideas and so on, we will be running as a basic service for the next 6 weeks to test our functionality and operability - we look forward to helping you.
