Rhythm & Hues Studios is currently seeking Systems Operators for three shifts:
7:00am to 4:00pm
10:00am to 7:00pm
4:00pm to 1:00am
Position Summary:
A Computer Operator is responsible for the operation of computer equipment including various
flavors of Unix servers and workstations, Macintosh and PC workstations. This position will also
operate and monitor peripheral equipment, such as tape drives, disk drives and printers.
Responsibilities:
--Assist users with hardware, email, network, peripheral problems and troubleshooting.
--Perform tape backups and restores; maintain tape library and database; update online database.
--Monitor disk usage.
--Maintain internal web page.
--Assist in the maintenance of the operations manual and procedures; make recommendations and
enhance procedures to increase productivity, organization and efficiency.
-- Perform regular maintenance on computer hardware.
--Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
--Monitor the entire studio computer network.
Required Skills/Experience:
--Understanding of various Unix variants, HTML, Macintosh and PC workstations.
--Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
--Ability to learn quickly.
--Exceptional organizational skills
--Conscientious, able to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
--Willingness to learn.
--3 years of college or equivalent post-high-school CS education or experience.
--Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Desired Skills/Experience:
--A degree or certificate in computer science or a related field.
--Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (Tk, Perl, Shell).
--Familiarity with most basic system administration tools and processes.
--Experience with Unix software and processes.
--Familiarity with networked/distributed computing concepts.
--Programming experience in C and C++ languages.
--Interest in computer animation and special effects.
