It will be interesting to see what happens to the rest of the P2P systems.

Grokster Ltd., a leading developer of Internet file-sharing software popular for stealing songs and movies online, agreed Monday to shut down operations to settle a landmark piracy case filed by Hollywood and the music industry, The Associated Press has learned.

File Sharing is illegal and a punishable crime.

I personally don't want to take part of anything that would take the chance away from a big media exec to own a very large boat/house or fancy car.

Correction, file sharing files that are illegal to file share is a illegal and punishable crime. Or should be that way.

So grokster is down? They accomplished nothing.

All networks that are centralized are really easy to blame and shut down (ie napster), but the real numbers in file sharing takes place at DC and BT, which are impossible to shut down because they are run by individuals without profit. The more they fight, the more people will decsend into dark encrypted networks, which will make it even harder for them to catch anyone, also it will be a perfect place to share truly illegal material, not just copyrighted material. It's time the offer a better alternative to file sharing if they want to beat this thing. I'm not saying it's right, but that's the direction things are moving in.
