Cronos 11-18-2002, 09:10 AM Hello,
this is the last image I created since I started working and learning 3D (one year now).
Each bigger image part or scene element has been rendered in a separate layer which has been composited in After Effects.
Original image size: 1280x1024
Software used: XSI
Plugins used: None
Scene file size: 70Mb
Hope you like it.
C&C welcome although I won't work on this anymore :)

Wow very nice job, but there's a few things I'm noticing, not sure but
- The sun is emitting such a fierce light but the clouds on the horizon blocks out the lower part, but yet the glare on the horizon of the sea is at it's brightest. Know what I mean? shouldn't that be a lil dimmer due to the clouds? Maybe I need to watch a few more sunset on a beach :p
- Also with the sunlight, those white lights are way to 'pure' the hue from the sun should be breaking up those lights and slighting tinting their colors, not to mention adding floating particles and what not
- the cliff in the foreground looks like you used a displacement map and it's to high, it's very spikey, rocks formations don't usually appear like that, especially on a cliff.
all in all fine dandy first work :applause:

Yeah but umm, fantasy is based on reality in many aspects, sometimes you can't ignore certain things  , if it can be explained that's good, but otherwise I'm calling it as I see it

Yeah just echoing what lildragon has said. Conceptually it is amazing, but definity some nip-it, tuck-it, liposuck-it is definitely on the agenda:thumbsup:

Hey all,
thanks for your comments and crits.
Although I woudn't I've done some rework:
-the cliffs are now smoother
-the bright glare of the water is now darker concerning to the clouds
-the sun itself has been leaved as it was. The reason?
Simple: it is a photo and I've done nothing with it, so with the right camera it is possible to create a sun that got such a bright light
And even if, I don't change it, because it is a symbol for the New World they're goint to. Everytime someone was doing this, it was a perfect world in his mind (which in fact was not, but this is secondary). So is the sun.

Nice. But I agree on the lighting comments. There's some incongruities there.
- the cliff in the foreground looks like you used a displacement map and it's to high, it's very spikey, rocks formations don't usually appear like that, especially on a cliff.
I've seen cliffs quite similar only less high (a little exageration is okay) in Antigua.

cronos, first of all i like the look of that image, but one thing hit me: the surface of the water, extending back to that horizon seems to be curved a little too much. judging from the point of view, which is fairly high up, i suppose, the horizon should be straight, because at that distance, waves wouldn't be visible anymore, unless your world was very small and the waves out there HUGE!!!
