View Full Version : attach 'cameras + aim' to motion path ?!
lowkey 11-18-2002, 07:56 AM hi all,
i wonder how to setup a camera with aim to follow motion paths.
everytime i try to attach the selected camera, i get the following message :
Error: camera1.rotateX already has an input connection.
how to fix this and animate 'aiming cameras' like any other ?!

just take a two node cam, and instead of aiming you just parent the point of interest to the object you want, and then put the cam node (not the group only the cam node) to the path.
voila

svenip, glad to see you back in here ... i thought you were already off and gone for ever ! :bounce:
what do you mean by 'parenting the point of interest' ?!
do you refer to the 'aim'-node ?
this is exactly what i tried :
1. parent camera1_aim to object
2. select camera1 (cam only!)
3. select cv curve
4. attach to motion path
this is what i still get :
Error: camera1.rotateX already has an input connection.

yes, i am too dumb ! :wip:
the range i was trying to animate the camera through was much too short to see it move correctly, sorry about bothering you !

i'm tryin to get a little bit more involved again, but we also have so much work to do right now.
CGTalk's influence on work is definitely a major problem !
i wouldn't get anything done, if i didn't force myself to resist visiting this site every now and then. but it's pretty hard.
nice to hear about you getting involved again !
well, concerning that camera-problem :
it still doesn't work ... i'm just posting too fast ! ;)
now, it switches from the beginning of the path right to it's end ... no inbetweens are created ! would you mind, sending that file ?
thanks a lot
