I'd like to render out a multipass of my scene, and I have object buffers set for everything, however they're not working on particles. I tried putting the compositing tag on the emitter and the particle geomery and it just renders blank passes. Is there a way to render out a buffer in the same pass as everything else?

version of c4d you are using?

It should work! You need to put the compositing tag on the Particle Geometry object. I've done it loads of time no problem..
