View Full Version : getting absolute coordinate!!!

hi!
i'm 3dsmax user and a beginer user in maya...

i'm looking for a solution for this problimatic :

-created a cube
-moved to 5 5 5
-grouped (the group's pivot is on 0 0 0)
-rotating the group on any axis
-the cube still has the coordinates 5 5 5!!!

i conclude that once an object is parented, its coordinates become relative to it! wherever i move rotate the parent, the space object of the child follows as well!

so, how can i have the absolute coordinate of a child moved by its parent's spins.

Use the xform command. (Check out the online maya MEL command reference page under the help menu.)

And yeah, I do believe all object's trans, rots and scales are in it's own local space, as opposed to the absolute world coords.

where the flasg mean:
-q means -querry
-ws means -worldspace
-t means -translate
