Post subject: Maxwell 1.0 test (update-3)

These are simple tests to show the improvements in noise removal with Maxwell 1.0. With the beta, it would have required many hours to clean completely. Notice that the computer used was not especially fast.

Noise removal is not an improvement on some specific calculations, like dielectrics. It's one new main feature of the engine.

looks to be some fair improvement in the render engine - but being c4d related - how's the plugin coming?

plugin for c4d was pretty so-so from last time i researched and heard much about it. i guess it really wouldn't matter if the render engine was perfect if (c4d related) the plugin was crap for c4d. sort of how the realflow plugin is compared to their better versions for maya and max - cause we can then show lots of great pictures from mental ray and vray here that really don't matter a smidge since it isn't a result of working with c4d.

of course i could always use my maya to render out to maxwell, but then i'm posting in the wrong forum if that was the case.

any updates on the plugins you've heard about? i have hopes for it but just don't feel all that generous enough to pre-order still - especially after how the past year of maxwell and c4d results have been.

The current plugin is useful as such this is very related to C4D. There are some features that are not fully operative but then the plugin that is available is more than 3 months old. Still in its current state it is capable.

I can produce images with the C4D plugin that the Max and Maya versions can produce, there are some problems but there are creative ways to get around the current limitations that for the kind of quality you can achieve is not bad for the pre-order price. There are plenty of results that allow you get a good idea of what the engine is capable currently. Next Limit is still being somewhat quiet about any other newsbreaking features that have not been announced in the pre-release.

I would say this is good evidence of their intentions to get this engine capable, superior, fast for the 1.0 release. There are more surprises to be announced.

Next Limit has always released new plugins with new releases of the render engine as from what I have heard this new engine is very different from the current beta.

I suspect the plugin to be successful with the new release.

This is impressive!:)

I would defintely say so, the computer they used for this test is not a speed demon. Imagine the speed of a very current dual or quad processing machine!

well finally i could get out good, i just hope there will be a equal way for c4d users to use maxwellrender. at the moment this isnt the case.

as far as i understood it, some people mentioned there will be only a simpel export module, and you are supposed to do all in maxwell standalone.( so the terrible c4d plug is obsolete).

lets see what will come. i personally prefer a tight integration like fr promise to do( will they finally deliver?). but i can imagine the will be standalones for vray, brazil etc in future too, and not all of them might be integrated as well. so i guess maybe we have to get used to "standalone renderengines, with only export formats, hmmm...

defenitly waitiing for both MW and FR2. i think both will enrich my arsenal of rendertools enormous:-)

That's funny! We are waiting for:

Final Delivery Stage2
Farewell Render

edit: humm, maybe we can do better with:
Maywell Render

waiting, waiting, waiting

Yes!!
Looks good.
I hope for a tight c4d integration, testrenders etc!!! !
To export only is a pitty, then again maybe som 3rd party developer takes care of it for a couple of bucks. (hey itīs external)

How come c4d almost allways have trouble with major external stuff?
I used to use EIAS, and there too it was alot of trouble, maybe it is bad karma? :deal:

These results look beautiful, but those render times & small format size, would have me worried if planned to use on anything for production...

In the following tests you can see how Maxwell 1.0 captures the light in a much more efficient way compared to old beta.

I just handed in two evening views, could have used that technique...were it available to me.

The car headlights thing looks good, but using spots in AR2.5 looked better. I suppose we can make a sort-of spot with Maxwell by putting an emmitter in a tube to focus light... I converted streets to 'area lights' by object for that general glow. It worked, but I would rather use this Maxwell method.
