Hi
Are bones and wireframes even renderable? Is it possible to render them out in maya? Thank you.

You can grab all that's in your viewport by using the hardware render buffer and/or playblast function. For animation previews, I'd recommend usng the latter.

When wanting to render single sided wireframes, have a look at how to set it up here:

BTW, this topic is perfect for a sticky. I have answered this same question at least twice in the last week alone!

thank you very much lowkey

the page does help. so is there no possible way to render out the wireframe and only the wireframe of the object you want 'in the software renderer'?

Nope. I know it's ridiculous, but it doesn't work any other way.

theres a commercial poly wireframe render plugin here:
http://provide3d.com/
you can use mayas vector renderer or MRs contour renderer to render wireframe geometry (no bones and stuff..) however, i never tried to do this...

ok thank you, I guess I will just have to do the compositing afterwards then. It would be sweet to be able to render out bones though.
