Hi, im in my final year of university studying computer animation and am planing to make a plugin for maya. The plugin I intend to make will be a mental ray utility node to help with the development of custom mental ray shaders within maya. I would greatly appreciate it if you guys could give me your opinion of this idea, whether you think its possible and if it would be useful to the user.
The node itself would allow the user to compile and then load a custom written mental ray shader from within maya, so for example you would input the code for the mental ray shader into a text box within the node and press a compile button, then it would refresh showing you the compiled and linked shader with its relative attributes inside the same node. This is just the basic outline of what i intend the plugin to do.
