Hi All,

I was wondering if someone can shed some light on some issues that I am having with using boujou and 3ds max / 3d maya.

I am trying to find a workflow that will allow me to be as efficient as possible as to getting my 3d scenes matched up to the camera footage.

I have gone through the tutorials on boujou so I have a basic knowledge on tracking and exporting my footage. I even got it correctly into my 3d app with little problems. I learned how to get the 3d scene into the proper scale. ( I learned a few other things to be aware of watching gnomon's digital sets 3: rendering and compositing dvd )

In my case I have footage of a large exterior site from helicopter shot. I have modeled all the 3d buildings and road ways. The question that I have is, In order to get the 3d models locked onto the actual track is it neccasary to have the proper 3d terrian modeled?

I have seem to get the buildings locked in place pretty good. But I am having issues with parts of the terrian. The terrian that I have modeled is pretty much flat, but the actual footage is not. When the tracking points come in there are not all in the same z ( in 3ds max )plane and y ( in maya ) plane. Do I need to put all the those points on the same plane?

If anyone can point me to any good url's, books or training materials to look at I would appriciate it.

Thanks
Alex

Can you explain a little bit about what your trying to do? Like what is your final goal for this. That would help us answer your question.

Im a Maya guy, and I've found that when I import my Boujou scene into Maya, the points are all over the place.

In Boujou you can minimize this (as well as the Boujou processing time) by using masks in Boujou to mask out things Boujou doesnt need to use as possible tracking points, thus, reducing your overall point overhead, and import-file confusion.

I usualy write down, or note some visual elements in Boujou, then add a simple cube to the final track, then export to Maya, then my cube comes in as my perfectly locked, and positioned visual reference point for me to start my set extension, or whatever:)

Don't know if that helped, but good luck!

Hi,

Implaying with boujou 3 but i have this problem...
I have a scene that shows the sky as an object comes down from the sky, was shot with a handheld cam to make it look real not like a movie (if u know what i mean)

I track the scene and exported to maya 6, now i dont understand the scene geometry i know if for set up the xyz but if im looking at the sky all the points should be in the x plane or line?

I try only setting up the z out 3 times 1 came right, the other ones went sideways it just didnt match, and the other problem is that the sync of the moton and the actual film dont match up like if boujou accelarated the fps. the scene in bojou goes from 0 to 300 frames but when imported in maya only shows 80 frames...

Any help with this will be appreciated!!
