stephen_T 11-17-2002, 05:05 PM i have tried the pfx method.......the result is difficult control the control curves and bad shading(some angel look very flat..).I think patch hair's shading is better than pfx...but i dont know how to animate those patch hair...using softbody or using skeleton in keyframing....

I think you just need to spend some more time on the PFX method.. you can definetly get nice results.
check out these tips from the master and creator.. duncan.. http://www.highend3d.com/maya/tutorials/paintfxqa/index.3d
as for getting control, I'm not too sure what problems with control you are having, but using soft transform constraints on the cloth can help to cotrol it/stiffen the top of the strips.
