THIS IS A PHOTO

I may never get anywhere with this at all..but these two lemons are really inspiring ( they came off my tree...every now and then I get these mutant lemons)

But I keep wondering..if I was going to try and attempt this or something close in 3d...not necessarily an exact copy but certainly could be

how would you approach this (either of these)..I'm a max user but it really doesn't matter ...just how would you start (besides the obvious "take better photographs")..."a sphere and pull faces etc..." "extrude along spline"... I think I'm just kind of overwhelmed by the complexity in shape of what's usually a far less complex piece of fruit http://www.polymallet.com/images/funkylemon%2000sm.jpg

WTF are you giving to that lemon tree. Radiation or something. :D

Anyway, i would start roughing it out with splines. So you have somesort of 3d reference. And then just go at it with poys or wich ever technique your used to. It looks pretty challenging. I might have a go at it myself this weekend.

wow! i want your lemon tree:scream: i've seen mutant fruits before but never ones that look so .. cute and curly! lol
personally i use maya, so if i were to start, i'll stick some squished spheres together where the rounded bulges are, then wrap some curves around these bulges and loft, turn the lofted surfaces into polys and extrude faces to sculpt those cute curly bits. i might try it myself if i got time.. looking forward to any wips of modelling for this:)

i'm going to try and start something after i finish some work deadlines... but I guess I should move it to a 3d wip forum?

the little one is all dried up now... so I think I'm just going to try and make something similar to thtse but not exact--- just as an exercise
