this is probably a simple task, but with my limited knowledge of photoshop, i've spent hours trying to replicate this texture to no avail.

does anyone know how to recreate this reptile-like skin texture with the white speckled dots?

i would like the individual squares to be rounded and curved like the image.

all i can get is a tiled embossed look which i don't want.

if someone can take me through this step by step, it would be greatly appreciated.

if the attachment isn't clear enough, here's the link to the original image which i copied and pasted to create my sig.

Is this for a bump map? Or just for a 2d photoshop texture? I'd first make a grid, then use say the distort->ripple filter to give it the wavy look. Then make a copy of that layer, set it to multiply, apply a gaussian blur to it, maybe a few more blurred layers ontop to build up the beveled edge. Lastly, make a layer of noise->add noise, monochrome and again set to multiply, you should have a pretty close match.
