I've only been using the program for a couple of weeks for a unj project.

I have been told to do a room with objects in it, but the objects should be made in seperate files.

So now heres my problem:

Whenever i go to export a file the object (to .3ds) when opened in a different file or new one, it looses all its material properties, including textures and bump map settings.

The textures used in mapping are the ones that came with Max.

Im really puzzled because if i just do a standard block it works, but if try anything that has had any manipulation - it doesnt seem to work?

Your thoughts would be appreciated. :)

If you're eventually putting them all together in max, just save them as seperate max files and use file/merge to combine them all at a l8r time. Is there a specific reason you're exporting them as 3ds?
