When I use the command filedialog with the default working dir, the pop-up window is full of hidden files and directories that are useless for Maya.

Then I have to browse down the files frame and choose the right directory. What can I do to prevent those cumbersome listings of files?
Thanks

I am looking for a solution too, check out this thread: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=240207

I didnīt get around to test it yet.

I think that fileDialog calls some system command; I just wonder if something can be set to pass also flags or options to that system command.
Also, I'll test that script for UI file browser and report the results. Thanks for the link.

you can also write your own spiffy file browser around this cross-platform command:

projFileViewer

in conjunction with:

workspace

there's an option for "hidden files"
