I've been modeling in Zbrush like crazy lately, and i love how quickly things can get done in there. However, i want to avoid UV unwrapping in maya and i know that there must be a way to bring the colors that i create (on my model in ZBrush) into Maya. Did that make sense? i want to paint my model in ZBrush, and bring the painted texture into maya, so i can then animate my character, without having to go through the pain of unwrapping in maya. Is that possible? I feel like it must be. do i need to do a basic unwrap in maya first, by any chance?. Well, if anyone has any idea how to do this, please let me know. Thanks.

Well what you could do is just do an unwrap using GUV's (I believe) in zbrush. It's an automatic unwrap, but I must warn you, it unwraps everything into squares, so it's impossible to then change your texture in photoshop. What i would do is just do a basic unwrap in maya and if you haven't deleted any verts, edges or anything that would change the vertice numbers you should be able to save it out as an .obj or whatever and just reupload it into zbrush to update your painted model with the good uvs. Another option that I might suggest is to check out the zapplink zbrush came out with to link up to photoshop. It's a really nice tool and it makes it very easy to texture without having to unwrap.
