Here is a model that I just recently completed. I'm thinking about adding some accessories later. The feet aren't modeled because I figure whatever I add to him later, I probably will have boots or something. Let me know what you guys think.

Very detailed. Like alway's, you know how to push those ofganic models to the limit.

Can you show us a wire?

Very sweet job with the organic modeling.
What program and method did you use to create him?

Thanks for the nice comments guys, I appreciate it.

DivideByZero - I use Max, and the box modeling method for just about everything I do.

(well I'll tell you what came into my mind when I first saw the image)

WOAH!

I bet your going to have fun picking out the accessories. By the way nice blue color. That you picked.

Have you decided what kind of scenario you want to put him in? Just from a start I can easily see he, he would fit in so many areas. From modern-sci-fi.. (ie him in a t-shirt to even a librarian's outfit with tiny spectacles).. to fantasy with a few add-ons (I know a little lightly bolt sticking out of the ankles came to mind when I thought fantasy).

I don't think there are limits to where you could put him. If you wanted even flesh tones you could put him in the wild west if you wanted.. which would give him more options from the early steretypical black vest out fit to a farm/suspenders thing which could even put him in a Depression era in environment.

Anyway WOW good job! da-ang.

Really nice work you have here! But he doesn't look all that angry; he looks more desturbed than in a rage. I think he would look a lot better if you altered his facial expression more and added in some veins or something.

Otherwise, great model!

Hey thanks guys. Great ideas blath, my friend said that I should take out his head and make him into Powdered toast man from Ren and Stimpy, heh, I thought it was pretty funny. Oh and Mickeloviche, you're right, he doesn't look too angry, it could be the lighting that makes him more pleasant. Here is a shot from a different angle, he looks more angry now, but not to the point of rage.

Yeah, I guess it was just the lighting and perspective you chose. Looks a lot better through this view. Good job!

good stuff man. my only crit is that the triceps seem a little small compared to the rest of the arm, or even the rest of the body for that matter. Usually, the tri's make up more of your upper arm than the bicep does. Just an opinion. Great work!

Hey, wully, halifax, Neox, JohnD, RavenX and actarus6. I appreciate the kind comments.

halifax, thanks for the crit, now that you mention it, the triceps are a little smaller than they should be.

Neox, yes, Hanno Hagedorn's Wasteman model was a big influence on this model, along with the book Dynamic Anatomy by Hogarth.

RavenX, I would like to see your model when you have it completed.

actarus6, it was made in max

Paint him green and slap a different head on and you will have a pretty good looking, stylized "HULK" model. Just in time for the movies release.

@metallimonkey

i've seen it on the hands... i wondered if someone is using the same fingerpositions :)
i got the wasteman here, and checked it, because i first thought its him with some changes, but he in a lot areas different (on the basemesh) so good work... and i guess greetings from hanno/carny :)

At first I thought the muscles in the model were too over exagerated. That is until I ran into these reference images over at planetquake:

You think maybe you could provide us rookies with a tutorial on how to follow in the awesome ways of which you model?

reaver
11-21-2002, 06:30 AM
Jeez,

You would think there we're enough timelapse tutorials out there already.

If you haven't to learnt to model from them already you're never going to.

Talk about spoon fed.

Study the wireframe its got all the information you need.

Maybe you should do your homework.

There are loads of high poly timelapes vids out there one was even posted here this week!!

Stop carpet bagging and do what the rest of us do. STUDY.

Oh and BTW its attitude and you ain't seen the half of it.

But if you had'nt given me some I would have been more than happy share some of the excellent TL vids I've picked up over the months.
When you get a bit older you'll realise people help those who help themselves.
I'm pretty sure that most people around here have got more than enough to do than sitting around making Videos for someone who can even be bothered to find his own.

Bay Raitt's TL vid more than covered this type of exaggerated modelling and Ambient-whispers excellent Vids are all you'll ever need.

The object is not to copy what they are doing and make a carbon copy it is to interpret their techniques and use them in you OWN work.

After watching one good Vid or READING one good book you should be able to THINK about how to incorporate these techniques into your own work. Not just copy what the other person has done.

Good luck with your modelling but if your attitude is to see something nice and then copy it vert for vert you won't get very far.

All the information you need is in the wireframe. Study it and all the other great meshes online, then apply the techniques used in the available TL Vids and you'll be producing great models in no time.

Now I don't want to ruin this thread by starting a flame war so if you want to respond in a non constructive way please do so by PM or start a new thread where I'll be more than happy to oblige.

Cheers.

Nick.

Ps you can start you collection by going here (http://cube.phlatt.net/home/spiraloid/movies/movies.html#) I'm sure if you ask nicely people will be more than happy to point you in the direction of many others. But this is as far as my generousity goes I'm afraid.

Thanks Neox, I haven't seen those videos before, pretty cool. Oh and HellRender, reaver was right about Martin Krol's (ambient whisper's) video tutorials, they are excellent. I have watched them many times, and they taught me a lot about how to model. I don't think i'm going to make a vid myself anytime soon, but I will share what I have with you, if you want.

Hey reaver Do you know by any chance wich software was those characters done in Maya? or someting else Im talking about the video tuts
thanks man They look pretty intersting love the riging part.

reaver

LostSoul.
They were done in Mirai. The big brother of Nendo. Unfortunately Mirai is as rare as rocking horse poop as the company that makes it is in trouble.
Martin Krol (ambient-whisper) is one of the few people around here lucky enough to have a copy. But most of the techniques can be applied to any 3D program.

BTW cheers Neox nice vids.I have'nt seen the alien one before. I have'nt had a chance to watch them yet but they look sweet.

For any Maya users out there theres a nice one here (http://usuarios.lycos.es/lichiman/more.html)
but also check out www.3dbuzz.com if you have'nt already as there are loads of free tutorial vids (with sound) covering loads of Max, Maya and photoshop stuff.

Cheers.

Nick.

Monkey thats simply fantastic! You mentioned that max was used to do the modeling and it looks like a max 5 render? If so I would greatly appreciate it if you could share your light setup and render settings to get that brilliant effect...

Thanks!
