RAM preview can only store as much of the timeline that it can store in RAM so the more RAM you have the more of the timeline you can preview. You should just render out a half res draft quality render if you need to preview the whole timeline for timing and animation if its for effects and such just move your playhead to before the effect and RAM preview from there and make sure from current time is checked in the preview options.

It will only RAM preview as much as your computer can handle. If you're having trouble seeing your animation at half res you simply need to render it out.
