Hi,

i've uploaded a videotutorial on how to model a head part 1 to my site.

It's more like a slow Timelapse without sound that
is about 1hour and 29 minutes long. ;)

Where you can see how to model the head from the first polygon over to
the nose ... the mouth .... the ear ... and how to model an eyeball.

Edit:

Thanks to mike for uploading it to the www.c4dportal.com (http://www.c4dportal.com) site.

Now you can find a version with better resolution (640x480)
and written comments at the C4DPortal.com site.

Or use this link. :)

EDIT: Now the Link is working again ... Thank you for the hint @ Eidan :)

There you will also find the reference images used in this tutorial Part1.

I hope it is useful. :)

Thank you for all that great comments ... part 2 (detailing up + hair) will follow soon

I wish i had found any better provider for webspace so i could upload
the video in better quality and resolution. The original leght is about 2:30 Hours
... so i speed it up twice.

Oh yea for shure ... here is the wire.

The neck is flowing wrong in this version....

on that and more details (on the ear for example) we will work in lesson 2 ;)

Maybe later i will provide a sound addon ;) ... my spoken english and voice
is horrible.

No problems downloading! It's on it's way as I write. I have grabbed stuff from that site before and so I know to just be patient for a few moments before the download link loads.

Thanks so much for your efforts. The reference images and wire look great. Just what I was looking for.

Wow!

Thanks for sharing. Not only will this help me with this, but because a human head has a lot of different curves and shapes and stuff, it will help me in modeling in general (seeing as i'm new to modeling)

Great stuff, downloading now :D.

Thanks for the tutorial, Christian. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but will later tonight.

I'm sort of new to character modeling, so can someone more knowledgeable than I, comment on the topology (edge loops and such). Is this a good model on which to base subsequent heads on. From what little I know, it looks pretty good.

Looking forward to part 2.

n0rac7: Yes there will be the BP2+ unwrapping part too.

Here is a tremendous resource on topology. It's on the Maya forum but it is general theory and practice for all 3D as well.

Mindful108-

Thanks for the link. I'm familiar with both that thread as well as the one in the modeling forum. There's almost TOO much information there for one absorb. Maybe I'm looking for the impossible...a perfectly optimized head topology. I've collected a bunch of good ones, but there doesn't seem to be one that everyone agrees is without fault in some way. Christian did a nice job with this one though.

Yeah, you're right SilverCity about the amount of information in that thread. I haven't made my way through it all, and there are so many solutions that seem to be effective. I suppose it comes down to what works (like in everything...).

From what I see I agree that Christian's model looks excellent and I hope to find some time soon to follow his tutorial since I can definitely use it.
