View Full Version : Tanker models/references (Help needed)
dan1el 11-01-2005, 08:48 AM Hi
I need to model a modern tanker ship, one of those amazingely hugh ships.
But I can't seem to find any of these giants, anyone know a page where it's possible to download reference pictures or blueprints ?
I need a sideview and a top view, prefereably wireframes or something like that (to get the shape of the hull.

What kind of supertanker? ULCC, VLCC, GP, LNG?
Side view--maybe not too good

Top view (not orthogonal top, but kind of close)

A rather bad quality image, but maybe it'll help:

Hope this helps you out some.

Thank you for the images, I'm not good with photos I had hoped for blueprints, but they seems to be almost impossible to get a hold of.
Well then I might aswell learn modelling from pictures ;) thanks alot mate.
I need to make a tanker or container vessel, the hardest thing is that I need to make the hull shape very precise (Ships like Hamburg Express or Bremen Express)

There are a few decent photos of the Bremen Express and the Hamburg Express on google image search, but I still couldn't find any blueprints of them. . . oh well.
Good luck with the modelling! Be sure to post the WIP!
Here are a couple of links with blueprints. I'm not sure if they're what you're looking for, but here goes:

Thx alot, the first one I think I'll use eventhough it's pretty small ref pics.
I will post in WIP don't worry ;)
I think I can start now actually... thanks
Hey... did you find what you're looking for?
If so can I ask where?
I'm in dire need of good reference for a ship called "Rena" (a 7 hold bulk carrier operated out of Nassau by Trojan Maritime)... somebody told me that Lloyd's of London has a ship registry with technical images that sounded great... the thing is, I have no idea what all those ship-speak abbreviations mean... or how to find those images.
I've wasted more than a few hours looking/poking around all over the web, and other than a couple of 3/4 photos, I haven't found much useful info.
It's one of those "fix it in post" type of shots that I have to work on for TV, and due to the timeline, any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
AJE
